a work of heart
‘Bassbus’ also known as Big Hau, Big Ha and Furtherer
c.2011
3-D (with Crayola Kids 3-D glasses) airbrush mural art on 1994 School bus
Dimensions: huge
-the building in Linden where I spent three months more or less working on a dream project, and experiment, make something out of nothing, or so I thought, who knew it would turn into the beast it did, that demanded so much for so long, working long hard periods of time in solitary work flow, experiencing monumental breakthroughs in painting, in process and self, often my only the witness the mice or shop cat, moments that were everything, the stories endless.
-the cold winds of old man winter regularly screamed outside and no real heat source inside was a bit of trip so a friend offered his van to stay warm, cook food and sleep, a little camp set up inside a buidling, perhaps the farthest thing from nature, it did make working conditions better.
-another time I will share events that occurred on this project, these were not the run of the mill experiences, this project changed me, it has taken a few years to see it and accept it, which may sound strange and hopefully I can better explain myself when the time is right, for now I wish to share with you these images, some new ones I found buried in the arhives, sorry no time-lapse of this one, the size of the painting bay where I worked in (behind the van in the fotos above) was too small to step back and see the whole bus, one of many challenges I experienced working on this project.
dedicated tot Julian and Scotty, up in the sky.
