A painting for Agnus

A painting for Agnus
This was a blog I wrote for it tells a story of art and healing

This canvas was gifted to me by a friend who recently lost his partner Agnus. This was her canvas, which she had started painting it and was unable to finish it. I recieved it and decided to honor her journey with the Green Tara, a Goddess of liberating women. It has been a challenging piece emotionally. I can feel her energy on the canvas, and I swear a couple nights ago her spirit was present as I was painting. It is a healing spirit painting and a story about Agnus’s rebirth.
Agnus’s poem (which was written on the canvas):
If you are not afraid of dying then there is nothing you can’t achieve.
If you realize all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold onto.

Hi my name is hälts, I am a Canadian artist, geographer, film worker and mostly a human being. I did not grow up thinking I wanted to be an artist, things just kind of fell into place. Art is a special gift humans have developed since inception. Mother Earth is the greatest artist, and who keeps me humble on my path. I mostly paint, and use acrylic with an assortment of brushes and touches, and sometimes watercolour. I am also well rounded with airbrush skills, spray paint, digital art and production, filmmaking, photography and drawing. I make fine art work, small paintings, big paintings, murals, wearable art, functioning art, and art for healing. I go wherever calls. I inspire while also being inspired by this planet, and my fellow beings. Life is a gift, and that's how I treat it. If that's not enough for you, then perhaps someone else can fill your expectation. I have no one to impress, I don't do this to be cool, and I care about this planet as much as Greta Thunberg, thank you very much, and all the life it sustains. I am not pro this person or that person, politically agnostic, I am spiritual, I am happy, I am sad, I am love, I am fear, I am joy, I am sorrow, I am all that humans are. I don't care about celebrities endorsements, and reminder there are many folk out there doing their part for Mother Earth, in their own way long before the current movement, upheaval does not create forever change, it goes in cycles, it always has and it always will, just sit in front the ocean and see it for yourselves. Most of all I just am. Thank you kindly, hälts

  1. This is absolutely beautiful! I love sacred/divine/goddess paintings! Is this acrylic or oil paint?

    • Acrylic:) it was a social painting to paint, I look forward to making some more in th endear future:) Mahaloness

      • Hm interesting! I generally paint with acrylic also.. I’d love to try oil painting sometime simply because acrylic tends to dry too fast for my painting speed… I love blending colors. Mahaloness to you too! I’m guessing that means sort of like a “Pura Vida” ??!

      • Pure life, yes similar indeed, you know Golden Acrylics make paint that has a slower drying time, extended fluids, and also I tend to use a glazing approach (using golden glazing medium) which allows for slightly slower drying times, although it is not quite blending the layering using this technique can produce similar results, I also recommend a spray bottle with water, I do like oil except for the messiness factor;)

      • Thanks for the tips! I’ll check out golden acrylics for sure… pura vida! 😛
